Interesting places

The 'Stary' Pond is the largest and one of the most valuable ponds in the Barycz Valley. It belongs to the Radziądz complex and is located within the "Stawy Milickie" nature reserve. The pond is a breeding ground for valuable bird species, including black-throated warbler, green warbler, crane, bittern, little bittern, whorled warbler and whiskered warbler. During the migration period, flocks of many species of migratory birds, including geese, white egrets, many species of waders and ducks, as well as white-tailed eagles, congregate there. Due to the large area, the numbers recorded here are among the record numbers in the Barycz Valley. Among them, species that rarely migrate to Poland have also been observed here, which are a great attraction for birdwatchers (e.g. Steller's warbler, three-toed gull, Red-throated barnacle, Red-breasted warbler).

On the eastern bank of the pond, an observation tower was built in autumn 2011 as part of the project "Nature-friendly tourism in the Barycz Valley". The roofed single-storey structure allows observation of almost the entire pond area. The best conditions for admiring nature are here in the morning, with the sun shining from behind the observer looking at the water surface.

The nature trail "Three Ponds", which connects the Old Pond with the Niezgoda complex, ends at the tower.

Access to the tower: from Niezgoda from the junction of provincial road No. 439 with the local road towards Olsza to the north; after 750 m into the dirt road to the west, following the signs of the nature trail; follow it for 1.5 km to the tower on the shore of the pond.
