Thanks to funding from the Lower Silesian Province local government budget, we were able to publish three information materials. Two of them are subsequent editions of earlier publications, and one is a new item.

MAP OF ATTRACTIONS AND LEGENDS OF THE LOWER SILESIA CYCLING REGION

The book "Legends of the Barycz Valley" by Dr Ireneusz Kowalski, with a map.

Selected legends and stories from the history of the Barycz Valley, referring to places, people and events, have been included in the attractions and curiosities of our region. We encourage you to read Legends of the Barycz Valley by Ireneusz Kowalski, published in 2025 by the Frankonia Foundation. A map of attractions and legends is included with this unique publication. Both items premiered on 5 February at the KOM in Milicz.

On this map, we have included a subjective set of interesting places that are worth visiting during cycling (and other) sightseeing trips:

* yellow indicates tourist attractions, places that are important and interesting in terms of education, recreation and cultural value (e.g. the cycle path along the former narrow-gauge railway route, the Barycz Valley canoeing trail, the astronomical observatory in Białków, the bee educational trail in Domaszków, the Christmas Bauble Museum in Milicz, Prababka Hill and the Ryszard Szurkowski memorial sites);

* green indicates natural attractions and local products (e.g. nature reserves, Milicz ponds, vineyards, orchards, Milicz carp);

* blue indicates MONUMENTS AND MEMORIALS (e.g. the palaces in Bełcz Wielki, von Hoym in Brzeg Dolny, Hatzfeldt in Żmigród, the Maltzan family in Milicz, the von Reichenbach family in Goszcz, but also the post-Cistercian monastery in Lubiąż, the forester's lodge in Ruda Milicka, Napoleon's Column and Szwedzka Górka).

* pink indicates places associated with LEGENDS, EVENTS AND PEOPLE (e.g. the legend of the string of pearls, the uprising in Milicz, the White Lady of Cieszków, Jadwiga's oak tree, Witches' Hill or the origin of the name Żmigród).

Interesting places are marked with an icon on the map, and on the reverse side there is a short description and the location of the attraction. The map is not a typical cartographic map, but it gives tips on which places are worth visiting, because we may pass them every day without even knowing it.

The map and its themes will certainly inspire many interesting trips and provide a basis for exciting sightseeing tours, which we invite you to join us on today.

The A3 format maps (double-sided) will be available from April at IT in Żmigród, Milicz, Trzebnica and from local service providers - CYCLIST-FRIENDLY PLACES.

MAP LOWER SILESIAN CYCLING REGION SIZE A3 – eastern and western parts – CYCLIST-FRIENDLY PLACES

The MAP consists of two parts – eastern and western. It is a classic A3-size map. The map shows the DKR area, neighbouring municipalities, marked cycle routes, main infrastructure, monuments, attractions and CYCLIST-FRIENDLY PLACES.

When put together, the two parts show the entire area of the Lower Silesian Cycling Region (14 municipalities, 2 counties) and help to illustrate what the region has to offer, the attractions available and the services needed by all cyclists.

The reverse side of the maps contains descriptions of individual areas of the Lower Silesian Cycling Region and services within the CYCLIST-FRIENDLY PLACES network.

The maps will be available from April at IT in Milicz, Żmigród and Trzebnica, as well as at MPR.
