The chateau was built on the initiative of Count Joachim K. von Maltzan at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries and is surrounded by an approx. It is a two-storey building with a multi-pitched roof, set on an elongated rectangular plan with rich Classicist decoration, with a separate central part (under the cupola with lantern there is a knights' hall with Ionic columns); on the garden side there is a triangular tympanum supported by four columns; in 1910. the south wing was extended, with inlaid stone elements of the former castle from the 15th-18th centuries; a bronze statue of a young hunter was placed in the small courtyard in the west wing of the chateau; in front of the chateau, on the north side, the courtyard of honour is decorated with an entrance gate with a neoclassical statue representing the nymph Daphne after coming out of the bath, and an Art Nouveau fountain decorated with reliefs from 1910, Then there are two statues of horses placed on plinths and a statue of a resting fist-fighter - a copy of an antique sculpture; leading to the palace was the Peace Gate, from which a sculpture of a victorious lion has been preserved, commemorating the visit of Tsar Alexander I of Russia in 1813.

The palace did not suffer any damage during the war. It now houses the Forestry Technical School. A joint reunion is organised once a year. The grounds of the palace are open to the public.
