Pond Gadzinowy Duży belongs to the largest pond complex in the Barycz Valley, Stawno. Like its neighbouring Pond Gadzinowy Mały, it lies on the right bank of the Barycz River. Both ponds, unlike the rest of the complex located south of the Barycz riverbed, are not included in the 'Stawy Milickie' reserve. Like most ponds in the area, the Gadzinowe ponds were created centuries ago; they can be seen on von Wrede's map of 1753.

A covered birdwatching shelter stands on the pond dyke, where the road from Nowy Zamek approaches it from the east.

A nature trail called "In the Land of Birds" runs around Gadzinowy Pond Duży (Godnowiec Pond). At the pond itself, there are two educational stops of the path ("Birds of the Gadzin Ponds" and "From the life of a bird").

Access to the birdhouse: from the asphalt road in Nový Zámek near the school along the dirt road to the west (together with the green hiking trail and the nature trail); after 300 m the birdhouse is visible on the dyke above the pond.

Nature: The Big Gadzin Pond is mainly important for breeding birds in the reeds. Valuable species also nest in the overgrown prisms.

Bittern, bittern and buzzard occur in the riparian vegetation belt. Two breeding pairs of crane were found here. A grebe and a red-breasted grebe nest on the heaps. The populations of the grebe (10 pairs) and marsh harrier (5 pairs) are quite numerous.

In the shrubbery and woodland around the pond, remis are abundant; several territories of common pochards have also been found here. The oak avenue to the north of the pond is inhabited by bluebird, hoopoe and middle-spotted woodpecker.

Whooper and Bewick's swans have been observed here during the migration period. White-fronted barnacle and lesser barnacle geese were found in flocks of up to 5,000 birds. The greatest rarity recorded at Gadzinowy Pond Large was an immature eagle owl, observed here in the summer of 2010.
