The commune of Cieszków is located in the north-eastern part of the Dolnośląskie (Lower Silesian) Province, in the district of Milicz. From the south it borders with Milicz commune, and from the north and west with Wielkopolskie Voivodeship (with Zduny, Jutrosin communes). The commune of Cieszków is located within the Śląsko - Wielkopolskie hills, which include the Cieszków Hills and fragments of the Kobylińska Basin and Milicz Basin. In the north-eastern and central part there are the Cieszków Hills, which reach absolute heights of 120 to approx. 183 m above sea level, with slopes ranging from 5 to 12%. Therefore, cyclists have to reckon with several climbs. The largest of these is from Jankowa to Trzebicko. The reward for the effort is a beautiful view from Trzebicko over the expansive, fairly flat Barycz valley. When the weather is good, the wooded Krośnickie Hills are beautifully painted on the horizon.
The Cieszków commune, thanks to its peripheral location, is sparsely populated and car traffic is not very burdensome. Several marked cycling trails run through the commune, including the black trail from Jutrosin to Krośnice ("In Barycz Valley"). Accessible forest or mid-field routes, quiet roads between villages, create many possibilities to design routes for day trips. There are many cyclists here, who in the commune of Cieszków look for an escape from the very busy cycle routes in the vicinity of Milicz. On the route we also meet numerous cyclists from neighbouring Wielkopolska, who prefer the green surroundings of Cieszków to the agricultural landscape of Wielkopolska.
Cycling in the commune of Cieszków, it is worth visiting the previously mentioned Trzebicko with its wooden church of St. Matthias and a view of the surroundings, the buildings of Cieszków, the baroque church of the Holy Virgin Mary founded by Katarzyna Sapieżyna, the Maltzan family cemetery in the forest near Cieszków, or the ruins of former palaces and estates.
